One of the supplements I looked into after I learned that my children have multiple food allergies is Probiotics. With a limited diet and very sensitive digestive system caused by undetected food allergies for years, I rely on probiotics to help keep my kids’ digestive system healthy.
Why is that? Let’s just say that way before the probiotics rave started, this source of ‘good bacteria’ has been a part of my daily diet – yogurt, fermented food and drinks. A perk I recently appreciated after being raised in an Asian household.
Since two of my children (at that time) were allergic to dairy, (the most common source of probiotics), I struggled finding a supplement that is not only free of their food allergies but also would taste good. Yes, more choices continue to break into the market this past few years. For a seasoned probiotic consumer though, the added ingredients which make the products more palate appealing often caused me to think twice about buying any.
Recently, I was contacted my Moms Meet to try and review a product called Dr. Mercola Complete Probiotic Powder Packets. At first, I’m really excited because the powdered form makes it a whole lot easier to take this supplement. Add it to water and this raspberry flavored drink is loaded with the essential amount of good, live bacteria. If the kids get tired of it, I can readily add it to smoothies and homemade non baked snacks.
Each packet is conveniently measured so there’s no guessing on the dosage. The kids and I like the tart yet mild raspberry flavor too.
Beyond the taste, Dr. Mercola Probiotic Powder contains 10 high quality beneficial bacteria strains. That about 70 billion little warriors in each serving. The best part is that the formula is free of wheat/ gluten, dairy, soy, tree nuts, peanuts, egg and corn. Yes, it is top 8 allergen free and also sugar free.
