My Honest Review of Inlight Organic Skin Care Products

At the Expo East last Fall, I got the chance to finally meet Lucy of Hug Your Skin. I have been an avid follower of her Instagram page for a while and was very curious of the Inlight organic skin care line. After listening to her about the ingredients and the unique qualities of the products,  my curiosity turned to eagerness.  I really wanted to try the products!

Since I have quite a collection of skin care products (yes, I’m into the Korean skincare regimen too), it took me a while to have the courage to go back to the most basic three product routine of cleanser, toner and moisturizer which Lucy suggests.

When I turned 39 last November, I finally gave in and gave the products a shot. For the first two months, I exclusively used Inlight’s Face Cleanser, Floral Face Tonic and Line Softener Intensive. Because I was having some hormonal acne breakouts for about six months before my birthday, I also included Inlight’s Skin Easy as a spot treatment.

As a full disclosure, the above mentioned products were given to me for free so that I can test them for at least two months.

Face Cleanser

This cleansing balm is oil based and doesn’t contain any added water. This makes it really concentrated. So a little goes a long way. For night time cleansing, if I wore make up the whole day, I use about a dime size of this product. I love the light minty scent.

Unlike most cleansers that are drying, this cleanser moisturizes the face too. It goes on clear when massaged to the skin and doesn’t foam up. After massaging it all over my face and neck, I use a warm damp washcloth to remove the product. Then I continue to rise it with warm water.

Since it is not water based, I still felt that there’s still some product left after I rinsed. That’s where the floral face tonic comes in.

An important thing I noticed was that it did not completely remove the colors from the eye liner and mascara. What I do is use a make up remover wipe all over my face and eye area before using this cleanser.

Over all though, I liked that it is very moisturizing without any sticky residue. A big help during the harsh temperatures during winter.

Floral Face Tonic

This toner is what was needed to totally remove the face cleanser, make up and other impurities on the face. It smelled like fresh herbs. While I’m not a huge fan of the scent, it was quite bearable.

It has the consistency of water and is very refreshing on the skin. While it removes any residue of the cleanser, it doesn’t sting or irritate any acne break out or dry spot.

Unlike the other Inlight products I’ve used, this face tonic barely reached two months of use. I think the cotton ball absorbed most of the product.

Line Softener Intensive

Inlight has several moisturizers and oils. I chose the Line Softener Intensive because it is meant to not only add moisture to the skin but also deal with fine lines and wrinkles. Just like the face cleanser, this has a subtle minty scent.

For starters, I consider myself quite lucky that at my age, I still don’t have any deep wrinkles on my forehead, around the eye area and even laugh lines. Recently though, I am beginning to notice some very fine lines that are often associated with dryness and my face isn’t as tight as it used to be.

This line softener balm is very moisturizing. It’s thick but easily goes on the skin using our very own body heat. A tiny amount (smaller than a dime) is all I needed. Easily absorbed by the skin and kept my face well moisturized for over 12 hours. It doesn’t make the skin greasy which makes it great under make up (even under a liquid foundation).

I do get hormonal acne breakouts, this helps my skin stay hydrated during the winter months without clogging my pores. In fact, I noticed that helps in clearing the my clogged pores.  While I didn’t see any significant changes on my fine lines during the trial period, my pores are visibly smaller.

At $129 a jar, it is definitely a luxury item. However, it lasts for a long time. I’ve used it twice a day for over four months during winter time remember?

Over all, I think the Inlight Skincare products are worth a try especially if you have dry, sensitive or even combination skin like me. Yes, it is on the higher end but a little goes a long way. Plus, it contains 100% organic ingredients and free from synthetics and chemical fragrances. This award winning brand is not just a green hype follower.  It is indeed a company that cares about its customers’ health.

  1. Hello… just wanted to say I have some deep 11’s and smile lines and don’t expect any miracles or even softening but it is winter and I will try. This month InLight mask and Line Softener is in Beauty Heroes sub box. I’m happy to try it… I’ve found products like these have erased fine lines though .. and my skin adheres tighter to the bone, especially around the jaw line. My skin is smooth and even luminous with natural products. I do look my age and before I stopped dyeing my hair, people thought I was twenty years younger than my age. Thank goodness for sub boxes.

  2. I still have a little melasma on the side of my face from taking the pill when I was younger and being in the sun, it’s cleared a lot but still have a little left. Also the wrinkles are starting to shop up around my eyes.

  3. My current concerns are fine lines. I am approaching my mid 40’s and am noticing a lot of lines lately!

    1. Oh Mechele, this really does wonders for those fine lines. It’s like being stretched slowly.
