How Tea Helped Me Survive Last Week

Do you believe in coincidences?

Well, that was sums the previous weeks.  You see, the week before last, I received a nice big sample of Organic India Tulsi Teas to review. How did I get those? Well, it was one of benefits of being Moms Meet Blogger Ambassador. Did you know that you can also be a Moms Meet Ambassador even if you don’t have a blog? You can check the details on their website.

Anyway, I was quite surprised to find out that Organic India actually sent me not one regular box of Tulsi tea but seven different flavors. As a regular tea drinker and collector, I was in true Tea Heaven.

Then, something unexpected happened. This mom who’s not allowed to get sick suddenly experienced major tiredness, body aches, sleepiness, dry and itchy throat. Except for the high fever, I got all the symptoms of a flu. Since I’m not a big fan of over the counter medicines (the side effects drive me insane), I pulled up my sleeves and looked for home remedies.

As I was going through some natural health websites, I can across some information about Tulsi or Holy Basil. According to the research, Tulsi is an adaptogenic herb. Adaptogens have been shown to support the body’s natural immune system while relieving the body’s negative reaction to stress. It is used in traditional Ayurvedic and Chinese herbal medicines for thousands of years to promote and maintain wellness. Adaptogenic herbs help the body adapt to environmental, physical and emotional stressors, support normal functions and restore balance.

Guess what? Organic India Teas are made with Tulsi which has been considered as India’s “Queen of herbs” for more than 5,000 years. It is abundant in antioxidants which offer stress relief, increased energy and a boost to the body’s natural immune system. Things I badly needed that week.

Without any hesitation, I drank cups of tea each day. I enjoyed the Peppermint mid morning for energy and soothe itchy throat and body aches. Afternoon tea is Sweet Rose to relieve stress. Then I ended my day with Honey and Chamomile which helped with the coughing and for me to get some good sleep.

Since what our family had was caused by virus, rest and extra boost to the immune system is the only way to go. I have to say though, these teas have definitely helped me go through a tough week drug free. Ah the wonders of Mother Nature!

Do you have a go to natural home remedy for body aches and itchy throat? Love to hear them.
