Mother’s Day Giveaway: Dinner for Two at Applebee’s

If there is one month I always look forward to, hands down it is the month of May.

Spring is in full swing and the weather is just perfect. Plus, it is a month filled with celebrations — Cinco De Mayo, Memorial Day, Food Allergy & Celiac Awareness Month, Marian Feasts and most importantly, Mother’s Day.

As a mom of children with special needs, I found it very easy to put myself at the end of the To Do list. In fact, most of the time, I even feel guilty when I want to treat myself. Can you relate?

Anyway, since this is MOMS Month, I teamed up with Doherty Enterprises, owner and operator of Applebee’s restaurant locations in New Jersey, Long Island, Florida and Georgia for this amazing giveaway.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar restaurants operated by Doherty Enterprises had just launched new menu items that I’m sure you will enjoy.  How do I know? Well, my husband and I both got to try them first and give it our stamp of approval.

Before you proceed, here’s a full disclosure — the items I will be listing is not purely gluten free or top 8 allergen free. They are only peanut and tree nut free. In our experience though, Applebee’s is one of the restaurants my children are comfortable to go to. Not only do they have an allergen menu info readily available on their website, they are also very accommodating to any special requests we have due the kids multiple allergies.

Brisket Quesadilla

This is one of my favorites. The meat was really tender and well seasoned. There was enough filling without it falling apart every time I took a bite. The tortilla (flour) is crunchy and not rubbery at all. I think this should stay in the menu as it will be a nice “light meal” on its own.

Bigger Bolder Grill Combos

These new entrees worth are a big surprise. Our family goes to Applebee’s at least every quarter and is very much familiar with the portion sizes. The Grill Combos are enough to feed two people. Yes, even if you are hungry.

I love that the entree encouraged me to eat more veggies. Guess what? I can’t get enough of the sides including the coleslaw! I got the Steak and Shrimp combo. While my date had Salmon and Shrimp combo.

Everything was well seasoned and the flavors worked well together. There was also a nice play on textures from the crunchy fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, steak/salmon, fried onions (Oh, this is to die for) and the sides.

Since I wanted to save room for dessert, I chose to pack half of my entree. It was a great lunch the following day.

This Triple Chocolate Meltdown was the perfect ending. The combination of warm lava chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream was a great treat. It was not too sweet too.

So, that was my mom treat. Now, your turn. A lucky US based reader will get to win a Dinner for Two at any Doherty Enterprises operated Applebee’s location. Just like mine, the gift certificate will cover 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 1 dessert and 2 non alcoholic drinks.

Just do the steps below to get free entries. This giveaway will end on May 12, 2018 11:59 pm EST.

  1. I would take my 12 year old daughter with me so we could have some mommy daughter time.

  2. I would take my friend Gavi. Applebee’s is a favorite place for both of us, but since having to go on disability few years ago she’s not able to go out to eat very often. It would be great to be able to treat her if I’m the lucky winner.

  3. My mom passed away in January and my dad was always good about treating her special that day. So, if I win I will take him with me to have a nice meal there.
