Is an Air Purifier Worth it?

What’s the big deal with air purifiers? That was the question I frequently asked my husband during our early married days. At that time, I can’t understand why I have to sacrifice some precious space for an “ugly piece” of gadget. The humidifier, I get it. But an air purifier, really?

I confess I have loathed that equipment for years. However, I didn’t have any choice. I have to compromise since my new housemate can’t live without it.

When the children were properly diagnosed with food & environment allergies and asthma more than six years ago, my outlook towards air purifiers changed tremendously.

After spending so many hours researching on how to make my children’s symptoms more manageable, I realized that a good air purifier such as Winix Smart can make a big difference particularly to someone with asthma and environmental allergies.

Did you know that the EPA actually said that indoor air quality is 5 times worse than outdoors? This is mostly because of poor air circulation plus a brew of toxic chemical fumes, bacteria and allergens such as dust mites and molds which are so tiny we never notice them.

While I still can’t feel the difference of using air purifiers, my children actually do. It helps them breath well stay asleep at night. Coughing during cold weather was also reduce.

Are all air purifiers the same?

Well, this is where a good one comes it. Something with a true Hepa Filter will help remove pet dander (we don’t have any due to allergies but still) and allergens in the air.

Winix air purifiers not only have that, it has more — a complicated 5 stage air purification system that includes a washable pre filter, coated deodoration carbon filter, anti-microbial true HEPA filter and Winix Plasma wave technology. Quite fancy right? They even have a Wifi enabled one for easy and convenient access.

That’s why I’m really excited to see them in the exhibit hall at the Wow Summit 2016. I would love to know how the system works and how powerful is the unit in purifying the air. It will really come handy this Fall and Winter seasons when doors and windows are shut closed.

Do you own an air purifier at home too? How do you feel about it?
