It’s mid December and the temperatures just hit 19 degrees Fahrenheit a few days ago. We even had our first snow this past weekend. Yes, winter is definitely here in New Jersey. If that isn’t enough to take a toll in our bodies, mix some holiday rush stress and Boom! The perfect recipe for a sick day.
Speaking of sick days, Child#1 stayed home yesterday because of a bad cold. If you’ve been following me for a while, I’m pretty sure you already know that I’m not a big fan of popping pills for every discomfort or symptom. Unless it is really necessary, I prefer to stick to natural remedies.
After being a mom for almost 14 years, I now have an arsenal of food allergy friendly remedies in my sleeve. Some of my favorite remedies for cold and cough symptoms come from a family brand called Wedderspoon. This company which started in 2005 takes pride in bringing the highest quality of Manuka honey and Manuka honey based products in the market.
If you are not yet familiar with Manuka honey, here are some interesting facts about it.
-
- Manuka is actually a tree which is related to Melaleuca or Tea Tree.
-
- For generations, the Maori people of New Zealand have used the flowers of the Manuka tree for its many health and medicinal benefits.
- New Zealand’s Manuka Honey is considered rare and a wonder of nature.
I have used honey to soothe dry, itchy or sore throat for years. What made Wedderspoon 100% Raw Manuka Honey KFactor stood out is the thick, creamy consistency that easily dissolves in warm tea. The flavor is very mild and readily enhances any dominant flavors it combined into. Plus, it is loaded with naturally occurring live enzymes, bee pollen and propolis which helps the body heal faster. Most importantly, there are no extra ingredients in each jar — just Pure Manuka Honey!
Another unique product from Wedderspoon that became a big hit in our family is the Organic Manuka Honey Drops. For years, I’ve been searching for better cough drops for our family. Did you know that most leading brands contain soybean oil or soy lecithin while others are loaded with high fructose corn syrup and flavorings?
These Manuka Honey Drops are free of major allergens (wheat, soy, tree nut, peanut, egg, dairy) and is gluten free as well. It has no artificial coloring, flavoring and preservatives but it still tastes great (not bitter or medicinal tasting).
Last and definitely not the least is the Wedderspoon Organic Lipcare. With the harsh temperatures, our lips often dries up and cracks. While there are plenty of lip balms in the market, for us managing food allergies specifically tree nuts and soy just picking one can be challenging and even risky.
As you may know, the beauty and cosmetic industry is not required to state all the ingredients of their products. That’s when Wedderspoon does the extra mile and readily disclose all their ingredients. Not only does their product work well, they want to be honest about it too.
Have you tried Wedderspoon’s products?
