Summer Reading: Born Under Fire + a Giveaway

We are on the last stretch of the school year. In a few days it will summer break and as usual, I try to encourage (force) the kids to spend a few hours each day reading. Since I believe that us moms should lead by example, I’ll take this opportunity to catch up with my reading too.

If you are looking for some books to read, here’s one which I highly recommend.

Born Under Fire, a historical novel by Rina Z. Neiman is such an eye opener. Powerful and inspiring, it gives the reader an accurate picture of a teenage girl’s emotional turmoil. From the stress brought about by her surroundings to her personal battle of finding her purpose, this story’s message is timeless.

As a mom of two teenage girls, this book is something I would let them read this summer. Aside from historical details about World War II, this book also teaches values such as acceptance to different cultures, hard work, resilience and hope. While the setting is different from what we have right now, it still tackles topics that are very relevant to us — cultural diversity, personal dreams, depression, and facing daily challenges.

Nicely written and easy to read, I like that the author was able to convey the message without using morbid words or descriptions. Neiman’s simple choice of words captured not only my attention but also my heart.

Since I really like you to include this book in your reading list. I’ve teamed up with the author and hosted this giveaway for a hard copy of the book. This giveaway is open to US residents only, 18 years old and up.

Just do the steps below to get free entries. Giveaway ends on June 21, 2019 11:59 pm EST.

Good luck!
