Earlier this year, I started sharing more personal care products on my Instagram and Facebook page. Is TheFrugalistaMOM deviating from being a food allergy blogger? Far from it. In fact, I have done that in order for you to really have a peek in our allergy friendly lifestyle.
You see, there’s more to just edible things when one is living with food allergies. Over the years, I learned that everything that surrounds an allergic or asthmatic child can potentially cause a reaction.
The sad part is, unlike food wherein all the ingredients must be properly disclosed, toiletries, cosmetics and even cleaning products aren’t required to do so. Even organic, non toxic products may contain common allergens like nut oil, soy, milk and wheat protein. Scary right?
Around summer last year, I got questions from other moms regarding what personal care products my daughters and I use. That’s when I realized I now have a teenager and a tween. This meant soap and water will no long suffice.
At the GFAFExpo last Fall, my daughters and I were introduced to the KissFreely brand. A company which manufactures a line of personal care products specifically geared towards those with food allergies and their loved ones. All their products are free of the Top 8 allergens (wheat, dairy, egg, soy, tree nuts, peanuts, fish and shellfish). They also avoid the use of potential allergens such as sesame, shea butter, peas, avocado, coconut, corn, sunflower seed, beeswax, rye and barley.
More importantly, KissFreely products do not contain harmful paraben, phthalates and petroleum. It is gluten free and vegan too.
While KissFreely have several products, for this review, I’m focusing on winter skin essentials – Sugar Scrub and Body Butter.
With the harsh winter temperatures here in New Jersey, my family’s skin becomes really dry this time of the year. Though we have our go to lotion which we use all year round, it is not enough to take care of our skin during this season.
My daughters, Child#3 and I in particular are not big fans of gloves. That’s why our hands get really dry and prone to painful cracking. Child#1 who’s been battling with eczema all her life often get breakouts this time of the year too. So, we really put the Sugar Scrub and Body Butter to an intense test.
What We Think
While we don’t often use Sugar Scrubs because of ingredients my kids are allergic to, Kiss Freely Sugar Scrub is something that my girls learned to enjoy using. It has a light lime scent which is pleasing but not overpowering. There’s a hint of rosemary essential oil which is barely noticeable.
The granules of the scrub are almost the same size as table sugar. I like it because it effectively buffs the skin without being too harsh. Within a few minutes, the rough and dry patches soften and feel smooth. Since the smaller granules easily melts, I don’t have to worry of clogged drainage too.
As for the Kiss Freely Body Butter, this is a thick cream and instantly moisturizes the skin. A little goes a long way. The closest I can think of to compare the consistency is that of petroleum jelly (without the harmful ingredients of course). It may take a few minutes before it’s fully absorbed by the skin but it after that, there’s no sticky residue. Oh, and I like the mild orange scent that doesn’t linger too.
To sum up, Kiss Freely’s Sugar Scrub and Body Butter are excellent products to have on hand especially this cold winter season. It rehydrates the dries skin without any harmful ingredients and common allergens. All the ingredients are readily disclosed. While the prices, $16.99 (jar of Body Butter) and $13.99 (jar of Sugar Scrub) may sound a bit on the “treat” end, these products actually delivers what it promised. Since we only a small amount, a jar will last for a few months.
Now, for a special Valentine’s treat. Our friends from Kiss Freely will be giving a Gift Pack to one lucky TFM reader. Simply do the steps below to get free entries.
The giveaway is open to US residents 18 years old and up. It will end on March 1, 2017 11:59 pm EST.

I enjoy using body butters and look forward to trying this one.
Thanks for the contest.
You’re welcome.
I would love to try the Body Butter for my peanut allergic child. Her skin gets so dry during the winter months. The Lip gloss would probably awesome for her too. 🙂 Thanks for the opportunity to enter the giveaway!
I hope this helps her. My daughter who’s also allergic to peanuts have been using the Body Butter for her hands. It’s really bad this time of the year. Good luck.

I would really like to try the body butter. My little one doesn’t like to put on lotions or creams but her skin gets irritated easily and her eczema bothers her. I think this would be a good product to use on her skin.
Oh in case i can’t list a product from the review i would also like to try the eyeliner.
I would like to try the sugar scrub, I never tried it before.

I would really like to try Kiss Freely Body Butter. I find body butters work on my dry legs and feet so well and this one sounds terrific.
I would like to try the lip glosses and balms. I’ve ALWAYS had a love for glosses and balms, since I was tiny. Having allergies and a little with allergies, I must now be super selective with my choices and do a lot of research. I will gladly do that for safe, secure kisses!! It will be nice having a go-to company for lip (and other!!) products though!
I hear you. I remembered getting rid of all my favorite glosses and lip sticks after I found out about my children’s allergies and they reacted every time I kiss them. Have you used Kiss Freely products yet?
I haven’t yet. I’ve been eye-balling them for a while now. I just need to break down and order!
I’m addicted to scrubs!
You’ll absolutely love this.
I would like to try the sugar scrub, body butter, and lip balm. I am obsessed with lip balm, so I always like to try every brand I find.
I would love to try their Candy Pink Lip Gloss – looks like a very pretty color – just in time for spring.
