My Honest Review of Gut Connection Prebiotic supplement

Disclosure: I received free Country Life products to try as a MomsMeet blogger. All opinions are my own.

For the past few years, the word probiotics have become a staple in almost all health and wellness websites. Every time I read about digestive health or “healthy gut”, probiotics will surely be highlighted. No wonder many have made it as part of their daily routine. Yes, our family included.

Lately though, I was introduced to another type of supplement called PREbiotic. Our friends from MomsMeet.com have invited me to check out and try Country Life’s line of Gut Connection products. Since their line of supplements are certified gluten free and vegan, soy free, nut free, wheat free and do not contain any artificial sweeteners and food coloring, I got really excited.

Probiotic vs. Prebiotic

I know what most of you are thinking. What is the difference between the two?

Probiotics are microliving organisms such as bacteria and yeast. These “good bacteria” helps improve or maintain balance in the digestive tract.

Prebiotics is a type of fiber that the human body cannot digest. It serves as food for the “good bacteria” or probiotics.

Gut Connection by Country Life is a whole food fermentate prebiotic that feeds the bacteria in the gut and maintain its lining to improve the gut microbiome health. It is probiotic free so it can be taken alone or with our favorite probiotic supplement.

My Thoughts about Country Life Gut Connection Energy Balance

Here’s the full disclosure. I received three bottles of prebiotics from Gut Connection to try. Surprisingly, two of which are called Energy Balance. How did they know I”m having an energy slump the past few months?

Anyway, I religiously took two capsules a day for almost three weeks now and I did see some changes. Take note, my routine and diet remained the same.

One of the changes that I found very noticeable was it’s effect on bloating. For starters, I’m already once a day “regular”. However, I still feel bloated at least three times a week or on days when I tend to eat more meat or fried foods. Within the weeks I took Gut Connection prebiotics, I observed that I barely had bloating issues.

Since I don’t feel as bloated as I used to, I able to drink more water each day. Normally, I finish about 3 liters of water a day. That amount increased to a gallon or more. This made me feel lighter especially during badminton nights.

Another change that I noticed was the steady flow of energy throughout the day. Take note, this product contains Coffee Berry (coffee fruit extract which provides 100 mg of caffeine). I like that it helped me feel alert and energized during the day without the after 3 pm slump or crash. It doesn’t make me jittery or hyper at all. In fact, if it’s time to slow down, I helped me fall asleep faster.

For someone who is not a big fan of taking a lot of supplements daily, (Yes, I don’t take my multivitamins everyday) this product is something I’m interested to keep in my routine. I just wish they can make the capsule smaller because it often gets stuck in my throat. Are you listening Country Life?

Anyone tried taking prebiotics? Love to know what you think.
