I have been a frequent visitor of their store in our local mall. However, most of my friends and I agree that we find better deals in their website. So for this review, I will base it solely on Fabletics online.
How does Fabletics work?
Before you shop for the first time, you will be asked a brief quiz. Your answers to this questionnaire are very important because it will allow the people at Fabletics create a personalized outfit recommendation for you.
After the quiz, you can start shopping. When you reach Checkout there are two options. Option 1 is to check out as a Guest. Basically, it is the traditional ‘grab and go’ way of shopping. Option 2 asks if you want to be a VIP member.
As a VIP member, you will get 40-50% off retail prices. You’ll also get free shipping on orders over $49.95. Plus, you’ll earn reward points to get free gear.
Is there a catch? Well, as part of the VIP Membership, you are asked to shop more frequently. Evey month, you have the choice to shop or “skip the month”. It’s that simple. But you have to log on to your account and tell them that you are going to “skip the month” by the 5th of the month. Otherwise, you will be charged $49.95 on your credit card. Don’t worry though. The $49.95 is not a penalty. It is actually a store credit. So, you can use it to shop later that month.
If you are no longer interested to become a VIP member, you can easily cancel by calling their toll free number.
The Review
Okay, here’s the disclosure. I’ve seen Fabletics online ads for years but have not personally bought an item online. I was planning to buy an outfit last January because I really needed a good pair of leggings for my thrice a week badminton games. A few of my fellow players have been raving about their leggings from Fabletics so I was convinced to give it a try.
I was about to make a purchase when I received an email asking me if I was interested in trying an outfit from Fabletics and review it on the blog. Since I have personally seen the quality of my friends’ leggings, I agreed.
This was the outfit I was chosen. The top is Valencia S/S in the Dusty Rose color (Medium) and the bottom is the High Waisted 7/8 Capri in the Versilia Clear print (Small). Both are from their January collection.
I owned several pairs of active wear leggings from several brands. The leggings from Fabletics are definitely my favorite. The fabric is thick yet soft enough to feel like second skin. Even though it is made with polyester, it does feel like cotton.
If you are not familiar with badminton (the one that is played in an indoor court), this sport requires rapid movements, sudden move changes, lots of lunges and stretching. Not only is comfortable clothing important, the quality of the fabric and strength of construction are also essential. Otherwise, the seams or the fabric itself will easily rip.
This pair of leggings hugged my body nicely and actually stayed in place. I don’t need to pull it up or down during a game. The waist band is comfortably snug and it does not roll down every time I make quick bends or move changes.
For someone who is 5 feet and 1 inch tall, this 7/8 Capri sits just about an inch above my ankles. This is something really important to me as most leggings are way too long and tend to bunch up with my socks. I find this length perfect.
As for the top, the fabric is almost silk-like. The color is on the lighter side and the fabric is almost that of a blouse. However, it is not see through. The length is just what I wanted it to be. It is on the longer side which I find flattering and not too revealing.
Compared to most athletic wear in the market, I find the fabric and fit of Fabletics more friendly to the average body types. The price is also affordable especially if one is a VIP member.
